Get Creative
The many angles and small size of this walk-in closet by @lizgreenwalt forced her to find creative storage solutions.
“I was using space-saving hangers, a space-saving hat holder, space-saving shoe organizer and somehow, I didn’t have enough space, ” she says. So she got to work on DIY shelves, drawers and a genius hat rail using curtain ring clips. Now the closet is much more functional.
FAQs
How much space do you need for a walk-in closet?
As shown in these examples, you don’t need a gigantic walk-in closet for it to be effective. Maximize a small walk-in closet with shelves, storage bins or baskets, and as always—keep on top of clutter. Weekly clean-outs and monthly donations will ensure you don’t overload your closet with things you never use or wear; because even a big walk-in closet won’t be functional if it’s full of junk.
Does a walk-in closet add value to your home?
Yes, a walk-in closet does increase the value of your home, especially with a custom closet system. According to Rocket Mortgage, “Closets can play a major role in appraisals. Older homes often feature smaller closets and less storage. Since adequate storage space is a must-have for many home buyers, a house with multiple or large walk-in closets can greatly enhance the property value.”
