More Than 24,000 Ford Trucks Recalled Over Backup Camera Issue

If you’re driving a 2023 or 2024 Ford truck, a new recall could impact one of your truck’s most crucial features—the back-up camera. Some Ford F-Super Duty trucks are experiencing rear-view camera malfunctions that could lead to issues with visibility while backing up, increasing the risk of a crash.
In this post, we’ll break down everything you need to know, including which specific models are being recalled, the underlying safety concerns, and the steps you should take to get your vehicle repaired quickly and safely.
What Ford Cars Are Being Recalled?
According to the recall report submitted to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, this recall affects specific models of Ford’s F-Super Duty series. The models included are:
- 2023 Ford F-250, F-350, and F-450
- 2024 Ford F-250, F-350, and F-450
A total of 24,950 trucks are included in the recall: nearly 9,000 from the 2023 model year and just over 16,000 from 2024.
Owners will receive letters advising them of the recall by Dec. 11, 2024. You can also call Ford’s customer service at 1-866-436-7332 to determine if your vehicle is affected (mention recall number 24S66).
Why Are These Cars Being Recalled?
Ford’s latest recall centers on a defect in the tailgate top camera system. Due to issues with the water sealing, moisture can enter the interface between the camera and the Tailgate Park Assist Sensor Interface Module (TPASIM). This moisture causes the camera to malfunction, affecting the rear-view display. Drivers may see a blue or black screen or an intermittent loss of camera display while reversing, increasing the risk of a collision.
